She recognizes Stanton, and from her brief interaction with her, feels tentatively optimistic about her assignment. Considering the last time she felt optimistic about anything Judge related-- from her ability to become one to their effectiveness to their lack of corruption-- was when she was twelve years old, it's a drastic change for her.

Anderson accepts the datapad and takes in the litany of duties stoically, with serious intent. It all sounds familiar enough that she's comfortable with it. Hover cycles can't be too different from the more gravity-bound versions Judges are trained on.

"Aside from firearms, I'm trained in knife fighting, blunt weapons, and hand to hand combat, sir." In other words, the things Judges are most likely to go up against.

She's new enough yet that she's not entirely sure what the point of this is; she nonetheless follows on cue, a step behind, attentive.

"Why are we assigned melee weapons at all?" Anderson is obedient, not unthinking. (Far from unthinking.)
